What is 35? What are windows? What is Atlanta?

The inspiration for this site was born out of a conversation I had with someone I know over some PBR and Miller High Life. I like photographing buildings, so why not start a photo blog about it.

There number 35 is no more than a random number, it may have some significance to some, but it’s just a number, and its purpose is to define a random number of windows in a building. The word window, however, can be metaphorical on many levels, but for the purposes of the name, it’s used as an allusion to the focus of the site: Architecture.

Because I live in Atlanta, and I’ve come across interesting structures and buildings around the city, it only seems natural to begin here. From time to time, I’ll post images from buildings in other cities I visit, but the majority of photographs will be Atlanta-centric.

A fair warning: I know very little about architecture, I’m not an architect in the traditional sense of the profession, although I could be considered a web architect since I build websites. So my goal with this site is to combine the two, and add a little something that I’m quite passionate about: the living, breathing city and it’s buildings (EscĂșchela… la ciudad respirando is what I always say).

I will post photographs of buildings that I’ll take on random trips around the city and try to discover information about them: who built it, when was it built, how was it built, who designed it, who was the architect, and what is its style. Of course, if you feel you can share some information, post a comment!

About the design of the site

Initially, the site’s design will utilize a standard professional template from the great folks at Graph Paper Press, but a secondary goal is for me to develop a template from scratch (remember, it’s all about architecture). Template is actually being built as we speak.

With that in mind, I should share the origin of this project:  I’m a grad student at Online Media Studies program at The New School University in New York. This is a semester long project for one of my classes, but after thinking it through, I fell in love with the idea and decided to pursue it beyond the conclusion of my semester.

Who are you?

Oh and right, my name is Alejandro, I’m a Capricorn, and I like house music. Fitting, isn’t it?
